Ruth and I are sent out alone this day to explore.  Started off with a great tamale at the corner next to the hotel. We take a stroll for a while in the neighborhood.  From my experience here in this part of the city I feel very safe. We do have a small issue trying to find the Hop on Hop off bus station. Our uber driver brings us to the corporate offices.  We experience a new neighborhood. It is mid-morning and the area is filled with people working hard.  If not making food for the public or cleaning up in front of their small retail shop they are working for the city cleaning the streets or taking care of the landscape.  Many workers are out on delivery, either by bike, motorcycle or truck.  We grab a new Uber and head to the Basillica of our lady de Guadeloupe.  All churches are within this property. It was a busy Saturday with a huge funeral service going on in one location. We step into a second building.  I am thinking this is one of the oldest buildings on the property.  Beautiful church, service is over but people are there praying and experiencing the facility.

Largest of the churches where a huge funeral service is going on.
A baptism of a little one
Beautiful church

When we entered this church it was clearly the most beautiful of all of them.  We did not notice the sinking until a bit later in our tour.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
